In the community: PivotPass sponsors SpeakUp 5k

September 12 2018

It was a cloudy day in Richmond but that didn’t stop thousands of people in the community from showing up to support the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation SpeakUp 5K.

When PivotPass was asked to be a sponsor of this year’s event, we jumped at the opportunity.

“While I didn’t know Cameron, I have read and heard stories about the strength of character she showed when facing challenges in her life,  ” said PivotPass co-founder April Palmer. “The fact that her family and friends have channeled so much of her personality into an organization that gives support and resources to teenagers who are battling a set of obstacles unique to their generation fills my heart with hope.”

The event was so much more than a race. The post-run party had music, tents from other local sponsors, even a slip and slide (that of course we couldn’t stay away from).

“My favorite part of this event was watching how every person made an effort to connect with others around them in meaningful ways,” said Palmer. “This community camaraderie is inspiring in any environment, but when you have over 3,000 people coming together in one place with the goal of uplifting others around them, the positive energy is palpable.”

Supporting charities, such as the CKG Foundation, is at the core of PivotPass’ mission statement: We believe that when people are at their healthiest selves, they can live their most fulfilling lives. This means that we will do what we can to support healthy lifestyles and fitness, financial stability, nutritional resources, scientific research, and emotional wellbeing for all members of our community.

The CKG Foundation is also one of the many charities included in our member rewards program. For every dollar spent, members receive PivotPass points. They can use those points to redeem gift cards or to donate to a long list of charities.
